Where will Opera in the Park take place?

The event is within the walled gardens of the south front of Culford Hall. When using satellite navigation please use the postcode IP28 6TX and input Fornham All Saints, otherwise you may be directed to the rear entrance of Culford Park, instead of the main entrance in the centre of Culford village.

What time do the gates open?

The performance starts at 19:00; however, guests are welcome to arrive from 17:00 to explore the stunning gardens and enjoy their picnic on the lawn. The evening will end at approximately 21:45.

Is there allocated seating?

No, seating space is on a first-come first-served basis. Chairs are NOT provided so please bring your own rugs or garden chairs.

Can we bring gazebos/awnings?

All gazebos and awnings must be pre-agreed with us before the event.

Can I pre-order a picnic?

Yes, from March 2018, you will be able to order a gourmet hamper. We will let you know as soon as they become available and send you the link to grab one before they’re gone!

Can I bring alcohol?

No, there is a licenced Bar selling beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks, open throughout the evening.

Will there be anywhere to buy refreshments?

The licensed Libretto Bar will sell beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks and will open before the performance and during the interval. Luxury food, sweet treats and hot drinks will be available are are to be confirmed very shortly.

Is there an interval?

Yes there is an interval of 45 minutes approximately halfway through the performance. During the interval, there will be a charity raffle in aid of East Anglian Air Ambulance and you will have the opportunity to buy drinks and nibbles.

What happens if there is inclement weather?

The performance will continue outside in all but the worst of weather conditions, so please bring suitable clothing. However, please show respect to your fellow opera-goers by NOT raising umbrellas during the performance. 

Is there car parking?

Free parking is available outside Culford Hall – a two-minute walk to the performance area. Please note that cars are left at owner’s risk.

Is this event suitable for children?

Children’s tickets are available for Opera in the Park. Children must be supervised by their parents at all times.

Are there pick-up and drop-off points and where are they?

To drop off and pick up, please follow the signs to the main car park outside Culford Hall and there will be pupils there to help with any bags or chairs you may have.

What should I wear?

Please do dress up for this event if you wish but as the event is outdoors, please come prepared for all types of weather i.e. sun cream, waterproofs or warm clothing may be necessary. You may wish to bring a warm blanket as later on in the evening it may get cold.

Are there facilities for the disabled?

Yes, there is a toilet with disabled access within Culford Hall and outdoor toilets available. We also have wheelchair access ramps. We recommend you inform us in advance if you need help with access or parking.

Can I bring my dog?

Only registered Guide Dogs are permitted at this event.

Is smoking permitted?

As a school, Culford is normally a non-smoking site. We would be grateful if guests needing to smoke do so with discretion within the designated smoking area and do not leave litter.

The gates open from 12:00 noon, with the first performance starting shortly after. The afternoon will end at approximately 18:30.

BBQs are not permitted onsite. We have a fantastic selection of food available and you can bring as much cold food as you wish. There will also be hot drinks available as well as our fully licensed bar.
